Nitecore TM12K Rechargeable LED Torch

The Nitecore TM12K is a compact rechargeable searchlight that upgrades the TM10K, now with a maximum output of 12,000 lumens using six Cree XHP50 HD LEDs, which is an increase of 20%. The turbo mode of 12,000 lumens can only be activated for short periods at a time due to the heat it produces, and a countdown timer bar will appear on the screen.

To be able to produce such power the TM12K utilises a built-in high discharge 21700 lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 4800 mAh, which is all contained inside the CNC machined unibody design and offers excellent heat dissipation. The body design also features anti slip finger recesses to allow a better grip around the body.

The TM12K is equipped with a multi-functional OLED display that will successively show the brightness level & lumens, battery voltage, power remaining, run-time remaining and temperature when the torch is first turned on. When the light is turned off the screen will show "standby" and the current battery voltage for 10 seconds before it goes off. After it turns off, a single press of the mode button will reactivate the screen.

The built-in battery is charged up via the USB-C charging port that is on the tail of the torch. Pull down the metal flap that covers the charging port and insert the USB-C end of the included cable into the charging port, and the standard USB end can be plugged into a suitable USB-A adaptor.

Thanks to the Quick Charge 2.0 charging circuit the TM12K is capable of charging the battery in approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes when using a Quick Charging 2.0 USB adaptor. The torch will automatically access the Quick Charge mode when connected to a quick charge 2.0 adaptor and will display "Q.charge" on the screen. If using a 5 V, 2 A adaptor the screen will display "charging" and a full charge will take approximately 4 hours in regular charging mode. Both charging modes will also display the current battery voltage and when charging is complete the screen will display "chg.finished".

Two buttons are on the side of the torch and controls the functions, with the back power button turning the light on and off with a short press, and the mode button cycling through ultra-low, low, mid and high when the light and screen is on. While the light is off direct access to ultra-low can be achieved by long pressing the power button and direct access to high can be achieved by long pressing the mode button.

The default brightness output for the high mode is 1000 lumens, however this can be customised to your individual requirements and can be set between 400 to 2000 lumens and saved. The turbo 12,000 lumens is activated by either holding down the tail button from or holding down the mode button while the light is on, and once released the light will go off. To prevent overheating the turbo is limited and a countdown progress bar will appear on the OLED screen. If the battery is not charged enough to access the turbo, or the torch is too hot, then the high mode will be entered instead of turbo.

Extra features include location indication, advanced temperature regulation and two lockout functions to prevent accidental activation. The half lockout disables the use of the side power and mode button, but the tail turbo button can still be used, while the full lockout disables the use of all three buttons.

Note: *The high brightness level run-time is measured on the default setting and will vary if it is customised. With the incorporated ATR the TM12K regulates its outputs and adapts to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance, therefore this may affect the run-times.
