Nitecore TIP 2 Rechargeable LED Key Ring Torch

The Nitecore TIP2 is the next generation in the TIP series with a new look design and features, but still has some of the same great features such as two user modes, a dual switch design and four brightness levels.

It now offers double the LEDs and double the maximum output at 720 lumens from two updated Cree XP-G3 S3 LEDs and the total reflective optic lens provides a soft uniform light that can shine up to 93 metres distance.

The operational buttons comprise of a power button and a mode button. The power button turns the tip on with a long press and then the mode button cycles through low, mid and high with each press. A single press of the power button will turn the light off. The TIP2 will remember the last used brightness level the next time it is turned on. Turbo is accessed with the light on or off by holding the mode button down and is a momentary function that will return to the previous state once the mode button is released. 

The TIP2 also features either daily mode or demo mode. When in demo mode the light will only activate for 30 seconds and if untouched in this time the light will go out, which is useful if you are quickly using the light to open a door or accidentally turn the light on without knowing. This mode is recommended if the TIP2 will only be used occasionally for short time periods. If the light is reactivated within 3 seconds of shutting down then the light will temporarily enter daily mode and will need to be turned off manually.

When in daily mode the light will stay on until you press the power button to turn the light off. To switch between daily and demo mode, simply hold both the power and mode buttons down at the same time until the light flashes once to indicate demo mode or twice to indicate daily mode.

To help prevent accidental activation, the two buttons are slightly recessed so they sit the same height as the surrounding area, making it harder for the button to be accidentally pressed in a pocket or backpack.

An all new feature is the magnetic tail cap which attaches to the body of the torch magnetically via two neodymium magnets. It can withstand 2.5 kg of weight in order to keep it securely on you key ring, but it can also still be easily removed when required allowing you to easily use the torch without a trail of keys attached to it. With the tail end removed it also allows the magnets to be used to attach the TIP2 to magnetic surfaces for hands free use.

The built-in 500 mAh lithium-ion battery is charged via a micro USB charging port that sits under the magnetic tail cap in order to provide better protection from the elements (cable not included). Three blue LED indicators sit between the two buttons and will blink slowly while charging is in progress and turn solid blue once charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes. A battery protection circuit is incorporated that provides over-discharge, over-charge and anti short circuiting protection.

Remaining battery power is indicated by pressing the mode switch while the TIP2 is turned off and the three LED indicators will display battery status. Three flashes is above 50%, two flashes is below 50% and one flash is below 10%. The power indicators will blink while the torch is in use if the battery level becomes low to remind you to charge the torch.

The advanced temperature regulation module allows the TIP2 to regulate its output and adapt to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance.

An included carabiner key ring allows you to easily attach the TIP2 to your keys or a bag strap so that it is always on hand, or you can use the deep carry pocket clip to securely hold it in your pocket or attach to the peak of a cap for hands free use.
