Fenix PD35R Rechargeable LED Torch

The PD35R is the rechargeable version of the super popular PD35, and offers different operation with the dual tail switch design, as well as the ability to charge the battery inside the torch via the USB-C charging cable.

Utilising a Luminus SFT40 LED it offers a maximum output of 1700 lumens on turbo and throws the beam up to 353 metres distance.

Featuring a dual tail switch system, the PD35R can access a choice of five brightness levels, plus strobe mode. The torch is turned on and off with the tactical tail switch (round button) by fully pressing it down, and it also offers a momentary function by half pressing the button (the light will turn off when the button is released). Once the torch is on, the auxiliary switch (oval button) will cycle through turbo, eco, low, mid, high with each press.

Strobe is activated by holding the auxiliary switch for 0.5 seconds when the torch is turned on and a single press will return the torch to the previous brightness setting. Strobe can also be momentarily accessed with the light off by holding down the auxiliary button, and the strobe will go off once the button is released. The last used brightness setting (excluding strobe) will be remembered next time the light is turned on.

The included Fenix 18650 3400 mAh lithium-ion battery is charged inside the torch with the supplied USB-C cable. Remove the dust cover from the USB port, located on the neck of the torch, and plug the cable into the torch one end and the other end into a suitable USB adaptor. An LED indicator below the port will go red to indicate charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete after approximately 3 hours when charging the included battery. Always replace the dust cover after charging to maintain the dust ingress protection.

A built-in battery indicator is located next to the charging port, which displays the battery status for 3 seconds every time the torch is turned on when using the included battery. A solid green light indicates saturated, flashing green is sufficient, solid red is poor and flashing red is critical. The battery indicator also acts as a low voltage warning light while the torch is in use when using the included battery.

The overheat protection will automatically reduce the turbo or high lumen output if the temperature of the torch reaches 60°C or above in order to protect the LED from overheating. This will last until the torch drops below 60°C after which the turbo and high modes will be selectable again. When using the included battery, if the battery voltage drops below 3 V the torch is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until eco output is reached, at which point the light will flash 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to charge the battery.

The clip allows easy attachment to a pocket, clothing or backpack and the included holster and lanyard make carrying the PD35R easy.

Note: *The turbo mode is measured at total run-time including any reduced output levels due to the temperature regulation design.

Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix 3400 mAh 18650 lithium-ion USB rechargeable battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
