The Fenix HL18R-T V2 is a rechargeable head torch designed with trail running in mind, but is equally as good for hiking, camping, dog walking and many other activities where a lightweight head torch is preferred.

The Fenix HL18R-T V2 Trail Running Rechargeable LED Head Torch showcases a luminus SST25 white LED and a SST20 CCRI180 warm white LED, providing both neutral and white light options with a maximum output of 800 and 500 lumens respectively. It also includes two 2835 Red LED's, ideal for preserving night vision and SOS signals.

Two independent switches are located on the top of the head torch for easy operation and control the white and red light outputs. 

The HL18R-T is powered by the included 1900 mAh lithium polymer battery pack and recharging is easy with the included USB cable. The LED indicators will slowly illuminate to show charging level.

If you are away from a charging point and the battery has ran out of charge, you can remove the lithium polymer battery pack and insert 3 x AAA alkaline or NiMH batteries, however these must not be attempted to charge inside the torch.

Apart from being lightweight, the HL18R-T has a number of other features that make it great for running. The headband is widened for a comfortable fit, with the hollow design providing breathability and the headband also features reflective strips, which are excellent for enhanced visibility. The new SPORT design allows easy and fast adjustment of the headband size so you can achieve the perfect fit with just one hand. Simply twist the clasp clockwise to shorten the headband, or pull the clasp upwards to release and loosen off the headband.

A single press of either button while off will activate the battery indicator LEDs and display the power level for 3 seconds. To prevent accidental activation the HL18R-T has a lockout function. 

The temperature regulation will automatically step down the brightness if the torch is constantly used in high becomes too hot (55°C). Once the torch has cooled the high mode can be reselected again.

Great throw and spill

Great service from TorchDirect with helpful support over the phone. I opted for the warm version as I find it easier on the eye. The torch is robust and has a great non slip finish. It sits well in the hand and is easier to operate be it in basic or advance modes. For purists it’s not a perfect beam on a white wall but this doesn’t show up in ‘normal’ use and is far outweighed by the excellent balance of throw and spill making it great for walking or indoor use. The torch can tailstand (great for power cuts) and has a strong magnet to attach to anything magnetic.

Bought this torch for it’s runtime spec and that you can replace the battery or carry a spare with you if needed. For my needs this is the perfect head torch, operation is simple, the various light levels are ample i think for most people and it is comfortable to wear with the wide headband. My only mistake ordering this torch was i didn’t realise the difference between usb-c and usb-c micro which was what i had so i needed to order the usb-c charger and a usb-c to usb-a lead for home use. The torch is great snd you shouldn’t be disappointed if you purchase one.

My second (but smaller & lighter) Led Lenser head torch but just as sturdy and well made. Excellent Purchase

This is a great torch, a bit expensive but I think it’s worth the money.
The knurling in the handle makes it easy to hold, the default light is very bright, I’ve only used it on the General setting but even on low power (2 clicks) it was well bright enough for me to use following the dog around in a large garden at night.
I would thoroughly recommend this torch, I had an older model in which the batteries leaked and ruined and in some ways I’m glad as it gave me an excuse to buy the ML300LX

The spares appear and perform just like the original battery. Battery life seems good .. lasted about a month of evening dog walking 5 -7 hrs seems in line with spec. Prompt delivery after notfication that they were back in stock. I also feel reasonable price given its a slightly exotic size.
