This Nitecore SC4 is a smart charger with high compatibility and quick charge technology. It can charge various rechargeable batteries in its four independent charging slots with up to a maximum of 6000 mA total output when two batteries are charging (3000 mA per slot) and 1500 mA output when four batteries are charging.
The charger will automatically select the default charging options when a battery is inserted, which is 2000 mA for batteries over 1200 mAh and 500 mA for batteries under 1200 mAh. The SC4 also offers adjustable charging current options between 300 mA and 3000 mA for larger capacity batteries and between 300 mA and 2000 mA for smaller capacity batteries. For 3.7 V lithium-ion batteries and NiMH batteries the charger will automatically select the appropriate charging voltage and charging current. For LiFePO4 batteries and 3.8 V lithium-ion batteries you will have to manually set the cut-off voltage.
When a compatible battery is inserted into the charger (while connected to mains power) the SC4 will inspect the battery before charging commences. If the battery inserted is a short circuited battery or has been inserted with the polarity the wrong way round, the LCD screen will indicate 'EE EE' above the relevant slot and the power level display will blink to notify the user of an error.
Once charging commences the LCD screen will show 'good' or 'poor' battery status, internal resistance, charging current, battery voltage, charged volume and charging time. The SC4 is also capable of activating depleted lithium-ion batteries and will test the battery to check if it is damaged before charging it.
Safety features include reverse polarity protection, shirt circuit protection, temperature monitoring to prevent overheating and over time protection that will calculate the charging time of each battery. When the overall charging time exceeds 10 hours the SC4 will automatically stop charging and display a fully charged status to prevent overheating.
A USB port is located on the top of the charger that offers an output of 2.1 A so that you charge external devices. during charging the the USB output is inhibited until the batteries are fully charged.
