Nitecore P22R Rechargeable LED Torch

£99.90 £111.90

The Nitecore P22R features a Cree XHP35 HD LED to provide a maximum output of 1800 lumens and it is the first torch in the P series to charge the battery inside the torch, and not only that but it also uses USB Type C for faster charging.

Similar to the P20 it has a Strobe Ready dual button interface, however it is now an upgraded 2nd generation strobe ready pedal design that is inset into the tail cap more to prevent accidental activation, while still enabling fast and easy access to the strobe in any mode even when wearing gloves, making it a perfect tactical torch with true single handed operation.

Due to the high output, the P22R requires a rechargeable lithium-ion 18650 high drain battery like the Nitecore NL1835HP, which is included, or a rechargeable lithium-ion IMR18650. The battery needs to have a high discharge current of at least 8 A in order to work. The P22R can also use two CR123A lithium metal non rechargeable batteries or two rechargeable RCR123A lithium-ion batteries however the full turbo setting is unavailable if you are using these batteries and they also cannot be charged inside the torch.

With a suitable rechargeable battery inserted into the torch, the battery can be charged whilst inside the torch using the supplied USB type C charging lead. Ensure the tail cap is tightly screwed on and then reveal the Type C USB port, that is located on the tail of the torch, by twisting the aluminium alloy dust cover. Plug the included cable into the charging port and the other end into a computer/laptop or a suitable USB adaptor. The blue charging indicator light will slowly flash while charging and turn solid when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 6 hours, 30 minutes.

There are three selectable modes to suit different situations. The first is tactical mode which offers turbo and strobe, which when paired with the strike bezel that features three silicon nitride ceramics, it becomes the ultimate self defence tool. The second is law enforcement mode and provides turbo, mid and strobe, which is ideal for patrolling, especially when paired with the included NTH20 tactical holster made from sturdy plastic that keeps the torch in place and allows for immediate quick draw when required without having to lift a flap up first. The final option is daily mode, with all four brightness levels of low, mid, high and turbo, plus strobe mode, suited for everyday use.

To select a user mode simply unscrew the tail cap, then while holding down the mode button tighten the tail cap back up and the light will then flash once for tactical mode, twice for law enforcement mode or three times for daily mode. simply repeat the steps to change to the next mode and the desired user mode will be remembered until it is changed in this way.

Once the user mode has been set the P22R can be turned on and off with the circular tail cap button, which can also be half pressed to provide momentary illumination until it is released. Once turned on single press the mode button (strobe ready lever) to cycle low, mid, high and turbo in daily mode or cycle mid and turbo in law enforcement mode. Long press the mode button in daily or law enforcement mode to access strobe or single press the mode button when in tactical mode to change from turbo to strobe.

The strobe can also momentarily be accessed with the light off by holding down the mode button. As an extra defence feature, the strobe randomly changes frequency which is useful for disorienting an attacker as the human eye cannot cope with the fast changing strobe.

The intelligent memory will remember the last used brightness setting or strobe when in daily mode and tactical and law enforcement mode will both always turn back on in the turbo output. A built in LED on the tail cap switch indicates the remaining battery voltage when a battery is first inserted to ensure you know how much charge it has.
