The Nitecore MT1A Pro is part of the Multi-Task series of lights and offers incredible performance, featuring a 800 lumen output and multiple power options.

The MT1A Pro utilises a UHi LED which offers ultra high light density and high beam intensity. Useful design features include a pocket clip, anti-roll head, and tail stand capability for use as a candle.

The MT1A Pro is powered by the included NL1411R 1100 mAh lithium-ion battery, which is charged outside the torch via the USB-C port. The indicator on the battery will turn red while charging is in progress and green once charging is complete.

Alternatively the MT1A Pro can be powered by either a AA alkaline battery, perfect for back up power. Using AA alkaline batteries offer slightly reduced outputs and run-times.

Operational Modes

Using 1 x NL1411R battery:
High: 800 lumens; 1 hour run-time; 250 m beam range
Medium: 300 lumens; 1 hour, 45 minutes run-time; 145 m beam range
Low: 50 lumens; 10 hours run-time; 58 m beam range

Using 1 x AA Alkaline battery:
Medium: 200 lumens; 1 hour, 30 minutes run-time; 125 m beam range
Low: 50 lumens; 5 hours run-time; 58 m beam range

Note: Accurate ANSI performance numbers indicate real world light output and run times when using a 1100 mAh lithium-ion battery. The data is approximate and may vary between torches, batteries and environments.

Ideal combination of features

Minimal bulk - fits in trouser pocket.
Can take a standard or rechargeable AA battery - important to have an emergency fallback.
Universal charging - standard USB supply with micro USB-C connection.
Waterproof.
Unbelievably powerful (even against my recent LED mini-torches) - comes at a price of course.
Good beam concentration and range.
Wonderfully bright - the three levels are useful either for saving battery or for not blinding oneself/others.
I don't see anything in the manual about 'tactical momentary illumination' as mentioned on this webpage.

The only area light you will ever need

I cannot speak highly enough of the Nitecore NWL20. One of the key features that places this above many others in the field is the replaceable battery. This means for example, that I now carry a spare battery in a battery case which increases the time the light will work up to around 16 hours. It was this particular feature that led me to buy 2. I have found the NWL rugged and reliable, with no indication that will change any time soon. A number if its positive features are shared by other area lights (the magnetic base, carabiner clip on handle, fully adjustable etc), but principally the ability to extend run time pays dividends and sets the NWL20 above the competition. Service from Torch Direct was, of course and as always, faultless.

A slim and well made torch

The Olight i13 Plus penlight was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, seen when viewing the latest arrivals. It is a very well made torch, interesting to use - press the “on” button until it clicks and the light is dim. Press the button twice in rapid succession and the light is very bright, ensure that you have pressed until the click is heard. This way of turning on the light takes a bit of practice but is effective. The body of the torch is slender - it takes 2 AAA batteries - and has an attractive design over the body length, rather than a standard knurled finish. Mine has my initials laser etched into it. This is a useful torch for clipping inside a pocket.

Robust Torch

Nice chunky torch easy to handle even with gloves that has a good light spread. Ex rated is necessary at work and the engraving makes it clearly identifiable as mine. Not too hard on the batteries is always appreciated. Arrived quickly and was exactly as described. Can’t fault.
