Nitecore MH12SE Rechargeable LED Torch

£96.96 £113.94

The Nitecore MH12SE is the upgrade from the popular MH12S, and now features a Luminus SFT-40-W LED that provides an output of 1800 lumens with a longer beam range of up to 405 metres.

It also features the same dual fuel technology that means as well as being powered by the included NL2150 21700 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery, it can also use an 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery (discharge current over 8 A), two 16340 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries or two CR123A non-recharge lithium metal batteries when using the included battery carrier that allows for compatibility of the other battery types. This flexibility means you have more than one option when it comes to a backup, including a non-rechargeable option for when power isn't available.

With the included NL2150 battery inserted into the torch, the battery can be charged whilst inside the torch using the supplied USB-C charging lead. Ensure the isolation disc has been removed from the battery compartment, and that the head and tail cap are tightly screwed on before lifting the dust cover to reveal the USB-C port, that is located on the head of the torch. Plug the included cable into the USB-C charging port, and the other end into a suitable USB power source.

The blue charging indicator built into the side switch will slowly flash while charging is in progress and turn solid blue when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 3 hours, 50 minutes when charging the 21700 5000 mAh battery using an adaptor with a 5 V, 2 A output. An 18650 battery can also be charged inside the torch, however the 16340 batteries cannot be charged inside the torch. Never attempt to charge CR123A lithium metal batteries.

Five brightness levels as well as three special modes are available in daily mode, while in tactical mode only five brightness levels and strobe are available. The light is turned on and off with the tail cap button, which can also be half pressed to provide momentary illumination until it is released. Once turned on, single press the side mode button to cycle ultra-low, low, mid, high, turbo in daily mode, or turbo, high, mid, low, ultra-low in tactical mode. The last used brightness level or strobe will be remembered when the light is next turned on in daily mode, while tactical mode will only recall turbo and strobe.

In daily mode press and hold the side button while the torch is on to access the special modes and cycle through strobe, beacon, SOS and release the button on the desired mode. When in tactical mode only strobe can be accessed by holding down the side button with the light on. To exit special modes either press the side mode button to return to the previous output or turn the torch off with the tail button. As an extra defence feature, the strobe randomly changes frequency which is useful for disorienting an attacker as the human eye cannot cope with the fast changing strobe.

To change between the daily or tactical user modes, with the torch off, hold down the side button, click in the tail switch and continue to hold the side button for 3 seconds. The light will then flash once for daily mode or flash twice for tactical mode.

A built in blue power indicator in the side button indicates the remaining battery voltage with a series of flashes by clicking the tail switch while holding the side button down and then releasing both buttons. For example if the voltage is 4.2 V it will flash four times, pause and flash twice more.

The included NTH10 tactical holster is made from sturdy plastic that keeps the torch in place and allows for immediate quick draw when required without having to lift a flap up first, and provides a convenient way for carrying your torch.

The integrated advance temperature regulation (ATR) technology regulates the output of the MH12SE according to the working condition and ambient environment to maintain the optimal performance.

Fantastic!

This is a seriously awesome torch. It has a fantastic build quality, feels good and secure in the hand, the light itself is amazing (very clear and adjustable to your needs), and very easy to charge. I also love that the battery is easy to swap out so the torch should last a really long time. The only downside is it takes a while to understand how to access all the different functions. I'm not used to reading a manual for a torch! But it's worth it, especially to know how to access features such as dazzle, beacon and SOS. I'm so glad I chose this torch, and Torch Direct were great ordering from too.
