Nitecore LR40 LED Lantern & Power Bank

The Nitecore LR40 is a rechargeable LED camping lantern with 3 different light sources plus red SOS mode, stepless brightness adjustment and also functions as a power bank to charge external devices.

Three white colour settings are available with warm light producing a a slight yellow hue similar to that that of a traditional filament bulb, but in an LED format, while the white light provides a cooler output and finally the warm white light is more of a neutral beam and offers the highest available output of 100 lumens. The special mode offers a red SOS output which is great for attracting attention in an emergency when camping.

All outputs and settings are controlled with the knob switch on the top of the lantern. To turn the light on or off simply press and hold the knob down for 2 seconds, and as default it will always turn on in the warm light output. Once on the colour can be changed with single presses to cycle through warm light, white light, warm white light and red SOS. The brightness level can be steplessly adjusted between the highest and lowest output within each of the three white modes by twisting the knob to increase or decrease the output.

A built-in 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery powers he LR40 and can be recharged via the USB-C port using the included cable. Simply pop open the dust cover on the side and insert the USB-C end of the cable into the lantern and the standard USB-A into a USB power source of at least 5 V, 1 A. While charging the four blue charging indicators on the top will display charging progress until eventually all four LEDs are solid after approximately 4 hours full charge time.

The LR40 can also be used as a power bank, which will use the power from the built-in battery to charge external devices by inserting the charging cable of your device into the standard USB-A port of the lantern, which is also located next to the USB-C port. The blue indicators will gradually decrease as the external device is being charged.

As well as charging indication, the blue LEDs will also display the remaining battery level by pressing the knob once while the light is off. Four lights is 100-75 % power, three lights is 75-50 % power, two lights is 50-25 % power and one light is 25-0 % power indicating that the LR40 should be charged as soon as possible.

The base of the lantern incorporates a sturdy metal cage design which is stylish as well as functional, allowing you to stand the LR40 freely. There is also a metal handle that can be used to carry the lantern or hang it from a range of places, such as a tent or tree.
