NEBO Mycro Rechargeable LED Head Torch

The Nebo Mycro head torch is a rechargeable unit that can be used with the included headband, or individually using the clip on the back which allows for easy attachment to the peak of a cap.

The central white LED outputs a bright beam of 400 lumens on the turbo output, which is designed as a boost setting, allowing 30 seconds output at a time in order to prevent the temperature of the torch becoming too high and thus protecting the LED. The high output is a constant setting of 150 lumens that lasts for 1 hours and two other white brightness settings are also available. Two side LEDs sit either side of the main LED and offer a 10 lumen green and red output.

The torch is operated with the push button at the side of the light, with each press cycling through high, mid, low, green, red and off. If the torch is in any mode for longer than 8 seconds then the next press will turn the light off rather than cycling through the modes. Turbo is activated by holding down the button while the torch is on and will last for 30 seconds before reverting to the previous mode, or quicker by pressing the button again. All modes except turbo have a memory recall feature, so the light will turn back on in the last used brightness output.

The torch can also be instantly activated in the red setting by holding the button down with the light off, and the light will then cycle the modes backwards in the order of red, green, low, mid and high if the button is pressed within 8 seconds. This is useful for preserving the eye's natural night vision and handy if you are in a situation where a low light level is required, such as when camping and not wanting to disturb others. Any time the torch changes brightness it will do so gradually which is easier on the eyes and also helps to preserve battery life.

It is powered by the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is recharged inside the torch via the micro USB port that can be revealed by lifting the silicone dust cover on the opposite side of the torch to the button. The supplied cable is plugged into the micro USB port and then connected to a standard USB port or USB adaptor. The side LEDs light up as the charging indicator and will go red while charging is in progress then turn green once charging is complete. Be sure to replace the silicone cover to protect the micro USB port for dust and water ingress.

The head strap attaches to the bracket to use as a head torch, and the clip can be removed from the bracket to allow a comfortable fit on the head. The hinged bracket allows the torch to be rotated within a 135° angle to direct the beam where you need it.

Please Note: The torch will be in demo mode upon arrival and will only stay on for around 8 seconds, please insert the charging cable and charge the battery, and once disconnected it will exit demo mode for normal use.

I love this torch, especially when you realise that the factory setting of 8 second burn time is not a permanent thing. The white light is a pretty powerful thing in it's own right, But when you activate TURBO, well good by night sky, hello broad day light! It is POWERFUL! The functional white light modes are very adequate for illuminating your path ahead with out blinding the guys around you. The RED light is perfect for the job it is designed to do as is the GREEN light. The 130 degree swivel is absolutely spot on for peak cap attachment, with plenty of angle to allow the beam to be aimed at the ground and Not in your buddies face,{always a big bug bear}. A great head lamp at a VERY affordable price.

The only area light you will ever need

I cannot speak highly enough of the Nitecore NWL20. One of the key features that places this above many others in the field is the replaceable battery. This means for example, that I now carry a spare battery in a battery case which increases the time the light will work up to around 16 hours. It was this particular feature that led me to buy 2. I have found the NWL rugged and reliable, with no indication that will change any time soon. A number if its positive features are shared by other area lights (the magnetic base, carabiner clip on handle, fully adjustable etc), but principally the ability to extend run time pays dividends and sets the NWL20 above the competition. Service from Torch Direct was, of course and as always, faultless.

A slim and well made torch

The Olight i13 Plus penlight was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, seen when viewing the latest arrivals. It is a very well made torch, interesting to use - press the “on” button until it clicks and the light is dim. Press the button twice in rapid succession and the light is very bright, ensure that you have pressed until the click is heard. This way of turning on the light takes a bit of practice but is effective. The body of the torch is slender - it takes 2 AAA batteries - and has an attractive design over the body length, rather than a standard knurled finish. Mine has my initials laser etched into it. This is a useful torch for clipping inside a pocket.

Decent Weight to performance.

For the size and weight, this headlight delivers with very well-thought-out modes. I have the extra battery pack for back up, but on the whole I use the Headlamp as is. The second light setting I use the most and it lasts a good long time. The red is easy to use on the buttons, perfect for camping. The best yet for me, and I have plenty.

Great torch for professional use

I knew that having a good torch was essential to my job but I didn't want to spend loads of money. This torch packs a punch and has a very handy clip that keeps it safe in my pocket when I'm leaning over railings and climbing ladders. The powerful beam helps me to identify leaks and other issues that an inferior torch wouldn't show up. I'm happy with the battery life.
