Ledlenser P7R WORK UV Rechargeable LED Torch

£123.90 £159.95

A variant of the standard P7R Work, the P7R Work UV is a rechargeable hand torch that offers a 10 seconds boost output with a maximum of 1200 lumens, and a high constant output of 900 lumens from a neutral white Xtreme LED.

The P7R Work UV is very similar to the P7R Work, with the same enhanced features and added accessories that make it tailored to the working environment, such as the ability to charge the battery inside the torch either directly or using the included charging station, however the secondary LED that sits just above the charging point is an Ultraviolet (UV) light instead with a wavelength of 365 nm.

The UV LED detects special marks made with fluorescent ink, that are normally invisible in ordinary light, and shows them up. It is ideal for use with banknotes, credit cards, travellers cheques, stamps and other items with security marks on them.

Other additional accessories include the clear lens protector cap that features a larger rubber surround to enable easy focusing even while wearing gloves and a rubber tail cap protection cover which makes the torch chemical resistant. A wrist lanyard and holster are provided for easy carrying.

There is also a Type D adaptor included which is part of Ledlenser's connecting system that allows the torch to easily connect to a range of accessories when mounted in the adaptor. The protrusion on the compatible adaptor is inserted into the slot of the accessory, such as the included belt clip, which means the accessories are one size fits all torches and you just need the correct adaptor size for your torch.

One other prominent feature is the higher colour rendering index of 90 and neutral white main LED with a colour temperature of 4000 K. The higher CRI means the beam resembles that of morning sunlight, making colours appear more clearly to the human eye and also reducing eye strain, which makes this great for professionals such as electricians who need to clearly see the difference in wire colours, or artists looking at paint colours.

The switch sits on the neck of the torch and the low profile rubberised button has comfortable and easy operation. The tail end unscrews to install the included Ledlenser 4800 mAh 21700 lithium-ion battery with the positive end towards the head, and the tail cap can then be screwed back on as tight as it will go to ensure a good connection.

Once installed the battery can be charged inside the torch via the magnetic charging point located on the underside of the torch either directly with the cable or via the charging station. Connect the magnetic end of the included cable to the charging point of the torch or the charging station, and the standard USB at the other end plugs into the included USB mains adaptor. The LED indicator built into the button will glow red while charging is in progress and turn green to show charging is complete after approximately 4 hours, 30 minutes for a full charge.

The LED indicator also illuminates green, orange or red for 3 seconds when the torch is first turned on to display the remaining battery power.

One new feature is the 15 lumen back up mode, which is triggered when the battery level drops to 25% or below, and will run for a further 2 hours to ensure you are not left in the dark and give you chance to recharge the battery. Other new features included a memory mode that remember the last used setting, a low power warning that blinks when the battery is low and emergency mode that automatically turns the light on in low when the power is cut while the torch is charging.

All these functions can be turned on or off individually by holding the button down with the light turned on for 8 seconds until the button blinks twice. Then release the button and within 15 seconds either press the button once to toggle the memory mode, twice to toggle low power warning, three times to toggle emergency mode or four times to toggle back up mode. The button will blink red twice or green twice to show the function has been turned on or off, depending whether it was on or off previously. The functions can also be reset by holding the button for a further 5 seconds after the initial 8 seconds and the button will blink red four times. Only one function can be changed at a time, so the process needs to be repeated to alter each function.

Smart light technology provides multiple modes of low, mid, high, dim, blink, flashing, position, SOS, strobe and secondary white that be be customised by the user to suit their needs. Only high, mid, low, secondary white and off are available as default and are cycled through by single presses of the button within 3 seconds of each other. If in any mode for longer than 3 seconds the next press will turn the light off rather than cycling to the next output. The boost output can be activated at any time by double pressing the button and will illuminate for 10 seconds before returning to the previous setting.

The light modes can be customised by holding down the button for 5 seconds while the light is on and the LED in the button will blink once to show customisable light modes has been accessed. You can then cycle through all 10 modes (excluding boost) and once you reach the mode you want to save first, simply press and hold the button for two seconds until the button blinks to indicate the mode has been saved. The light will revert back to the beginning of the 10 modes so you can go through and select the second mode you wish to save. Continue this process until you have as many or little modes in the order you require, and on the last output you wish to save press and hold the button for 4 seconds until the button blinks 3 times to indicate the customisation has been saved and exited.

An advanced focus system combined with multi-core optics allows you to smoothly transition the light from spot to flood by twisting the bezel on the head of the torch. There is also a lock out mode to prevent accidental activation when not in use, which can be activated by holding the button for 5 seconds with the light off until the light blinks four times. To come out of lock out mode, hold the button for 5 seconds until the light blinks four times.

The P7R Work UV has improved ingress protection thanks to the flex sealing technology, now offering a rating of IP68 making it fully resistant to solids and fully waterproof when submerged in water up to a depth of 1 metre for 30 minutes. It also has an increased robustness compared to the CORE model, with a drop resistance of 3 metres, which makes it perfect for heavy duty environments such as a building site.
