Ledlenser P18R WORK Rechargeable LED Torch

£235.98 £329.95

The brand new WORK Series is here, and the P18R WORK updates the popular i18R. It is a super powerful rechargeable hand torch that offers a 10 seconds boost output with a maximum of 4500 lumens, and has a high constant output of 2600 lumens from three neutral white Xtreme LEDs.

The P18R WORK is very similar to the P18R Signature, but with a neutral white output instead of cool white. It also includes a rubber tail cap protection cover and a clear lens protector cap that features a larger rubber surround to enable easy focusing even while wearing gloves, which prevents scratching of the lens and absorbs impact to provide extra protection, making it more tailored to the working environment. There is also a finer knurling design of the P18R WORK to provide a better grip and reduce slipping.

The switch sits on the neck of the torch and the low profile rubberised button has comfortable and easy operation. The tail end unscrews to install the included Ledlenser triangular 3000 mAh rechargeable battery pack that consists of three 18650 lithium-ion cells, which is done by inserting the flat end of the battery first and then connecting the plug inside the torch to the three pins on the battery. The tail cap can then be screwed back on as tight as it will go to ensure a good connection.

Once installed the battery can be charged inside the torch via the magnetic charging point located on the underside of the torch. Connect the magnetic end of the included cable to the charging point of the torch, and the standard USB at the other end plugs into the included USB mains adaptor. The LED indicator built into the button will glow red while charging is in progress and turn green to show charging is complete after approximately 5 hours, 30 minutes for a full charge.

The LED indicator also illuminates green, orange or red for 3 seconds when the torch is first turned on to display the remaining battery power.

One new feature is the 30 lumen back up mode, which is triggered when the battery level drops to 25% or below, and will run for a further 2 hours to ensure you are not left in the dark and give you chance to recharge the battery. Other new features included a memory mode that remember the last used setting, a low power warning that blinks when the battery is low and emergency mode that automatically turns the light on in low when the power is cut while the torch is charging.

All these functions (except back up mode) can be turned on or off individually by holding the button down with the light turned on for 8 seconds until the button blinks twice. Then release the button and within 15 seconds either press the button once to toggle the memory mode, twice to toggle low power warning or three times to toggle emergency mode. The button will blink red twice or green twice to show the function has been turned on or off, depending whether it was on or off previously. The functions can also be reset by holding the button for a further 5 seconds after the initial 8 seconds and the button will blink red four times. Only one function can be changed at a time, so the process needs to be repeated to alter each function.

Smart light technology provides multiple modes of low, mid, high, dim, blink, flashing, position, SOS and strobe that be be customised by the user to suit their needs. Only high, mid, low, position and off are available as default and are cycled through by single presses of the button within 3 seconds of each other. If in any mode for longer than 3 seconds the next press will turn the light off rather than cycling to the next output. The boost output can be activated at any time by double pressing the button and will illuminate for 10 seconds before returning to the previous setting.

The light modes can be customised by holding down the button for 5 seconds while the light is on and the LED in the button will blink once to show customisable light modes has been accessed. You can then cycle through all 9 modes (excluding boost) and once you reach the mode you want to save first, simply press and hold the button for 2 seconds until the button blinks to indicate the mode has been saved. The light will revert back to the beginning of the 9 modes so you can go through and select the second mode you wish to save. Continue this process until you have as many or little modes in the order you require, and on the last output you wish to save press and hold the button for 4 seconds until the button blinks 3 times to indicate the customisation has been saved and exited.

An advanced focus system combined with X-lens technology allows you to smoothly transition the light from spot to flood by sliding the head of the torch backwards and forwards. There is also a lock out mode to prevent accidental activation when not in use, which can be activated by holding the button for 5 seconds with the light off until the light blinks four times. To come out of lock out mode, hold the button for 5 seconds until the light blinks four times.

An adjustable lanyard is included for extra security while holding the torch and can be threaded through the hole in the tail cap.
