Ledlenser ML4 Warm Light Rechargeable LED Lantern

Offering up to 300 lumens warm white light on the boost setting, the ML4 WL is a variation of the ML4 and is just as compact.

As well as four warm white brightness outputs the ML4 WL also offers a white flashing mode as well as two red outputs and a red flashing mode. The red light is good for preserving natural night vision, map reading and animal watching amongst other uses. It is powered by a single 14500 lithium-ion battery which is installed by twisting the base of the lantern to remove the battery cover and inserting the negative end of the battery first before fully twisting the base back tight.

To charge the lithium-ion battery you need to connect the magnetic end of the included cable to the charging point on the side of the lantern and the standard USB at the other end plugs into a computer or compatible USB adaptor (not included). The battery indicator light will turn red to show charging is in progress and will go green once charging is complete after approximately 2 hours, 30 minutes. If you run out of charge a AA alkaline battery can also be used in place of the rechargeable.

The button on the top controls all the functions of the lantern. To turn the ML4 WL on press the button once and the light will come on in the low white mode. If you continue to press the button within 5 seconds it will cycle from low to mid, power, blink and off. If on in any mode for longer than 5 seconds the next press will turn the light off. The white boost output is accessed by quick pressing the button twice within 5 seconds and lasts for 10 seconds before returning to the previous output.

To change from the white mode to the red mode you hold down the button for three seconds with the light on or off. This is great for when you don't want to disturb others as it means you can directly access the red output even if you know its set to white without turning the white light on first. If the red light was the last used mode when it was turned off then the torch can just be turned back on with one press as normal as it will be remembered. Once on each press within 5 seconds will then cycle from red low to red high, red blink and off.

To prevent accidental activation the ML4 WL has a lockout function that is activated by holding down the button for 5 seconds until the light flashes four times and is deactivated by holding it down for 3 seconds.

When the lantern is first tuned on the power indicator under the button will display green, orange or red for 2 seconds to indicate the current battery level. Once the battery level becomes low and requires charging the lantern will blink four times while in use to notify the user.
