Ledlenser H15R WORK Rechargeable LED Head Torch

The brand new WORK Series is here, and the H15R WORK is one of the variations that replaces the hugely popular H14R.2. An updated 10 seconds boost output now offers a maximum of 2500 lumens, while the highest constant output is 1000 lumens and the lowest constant output is 20 lumens.

The H15R WORK has the same output and functionality of the H15R Core, but with enhanced features and added accessories that make it tailored to the working environment, such as the yellow detailing on the head band and head lamp for increased visibility. Accessories include the clear lens protector cap that features a larger rubber surround to enable easy focusing even while wearing gloves, a silicone head band for non-slip hard hat grip, and the helmet clips for use with the nylon head band on a hard hat.

One prominent enhancement is the high colour rendering index of 90 and neutral white LED with a colour temperature of 4000 K. The high CRI means the beam resembles that of morning sunlight, making colours appear more clearly to the human eye and also reducing eye strain, which makes this great for professionals such as electricians who need to clearly see the difference in wire colours.

The light is operated with the power button on the side of the head torch by pressing it once to turn the light on, and the output can then be altered between the highest and lowest brightness levels using the stepless dimming wheel switch that gradually increases the brightness when twisted forwards and decreases the brightness when twisted backwards. The boost output can be activated by double pressing the button and will illuminate for 10 seconds before returning to the previous setting.

This allows you to select the perfect light brightness for the task at hand, and the last used output will be remembered when the light is turned back on.

A large capacity 4800 mAh lithium-ion battery pack provides excellent run-times, with up to 4 hours in the highest constant output. When the battery level drops to 25% or below, the built-in power indicator will notify you with three blinks of the white light and the light will enter the 20 lumen back up mode and run for a further 1 hour to ensure you are not left in the dark and give you chance to recharge the battery.

The battery goes in a separate battery pack that sits on the back on the headband, which helps to evenly distribute weight. The battery pack can also slide off of the head band and be attached to the included belt clip, and with the extension cable connected can be carried on a belt or elsewhere on the body so that the battery pack weight isn't being carried on the head and the battery status can be easily checked.

To remove or install the battery, slide the battery pack off the headband and the corner of the headband connector is inserted into the small slit on the end of the battery pack so that it can be twisted to the unlocked position until a click is heard. Once open insert the battery and then tighten the battery compartment back up to the lock position until a click is heard. The wire from the battery pack can then be connected to the wire from the head lamp to provide power.

The battery can be charged inside the battery pack via the magnetic charging point located on the end. Connect the magnetic end of the included cable to the charging point, and the standard USB at the other end plugs into a suitable USB port or adaptor. The four LED battery indicators will gradually increases until all four are solid green to show charging is complete after approximately 5 hours, 30 minutes for a full charge.

The LED indicators will also light up when the torch is turned on to show the remaining battery power, with four indicating 100%, three indicating 75%, two indicating 50%, one indicating 25% and one flashing indicating below 25%.

An advanced focus system allows you to smoothly transition the light from spot to flood by twisting the bezel on the head of the torch and the swivel mechanism of the head lamp provides stepless adjustment of the beam position within a 130° angle so that it can be exactly where you need it.

There is also a lock out mode to prevent accidental activation when not in use, which can be activated by holding the button for 5 seconds until the light blinks twice. To come out of lock out mode, hold the button for 8 seconds until the light blinks twice.

The H15R WORK has improved ingress protection thanks to the flex sealing technology, now offering a rating of IP67 making it fully resistant to solids and fully waterproof when submerged in water up to a depth of 1 metre for 30 minutes. It also has an increased robustness compared to the CORE model, with a drop resistance of 3 metres, which makes it perfect for heavy duty environments such as a building site.
