GP Xplor PHR17 Compact Trail Runner Rechargeable LED Head Torch

The GP Xplor PHR17 is a compact rechargeable head torch that is perfect for trail running and other outdoor activities such as camping, hiking or dog walking.

The main white Cree LED offers four brightness levels of low, mid, high and turbo as well as SOS and Beacon modes. There is also a secondary warm white flood LED ideal for close up work, and a red SMD LED that offers low, high and flashing outputs. The cool white combo beam features both floodlight and spotlight, providing a 100° ultra-wide beam angle and up to 85m beam distance.

Two independent switches are located on the top of the head torch for easy operation, and separate controls for the white and red light means that the red light can be instantly accessed without disrupting the eye's natural night vision. The PHR17 has a lockout mode to prevent accidental activation which can be accessed by holding down both buttons for 1 second and the red indicator will flash red twice. To unlock the torch simultaneously hold down both buttons for 1 second again and the green indicator will flash twice.

As well as being lightweight, the PHR17 has a number of other features that make it great for running. The headband is perforated, adjustable and reflective for comfort and safety. It also offers IPX6 water resistance to combat the heaviest of rain, as long as the USB cover is firmly in place. The direction of the light can be altered with the hinged bracket that allows the torch to tilt forwards.

An integrated 1600 mAh lithium polymer battery powers the head torch and can be recharged using the included USB-C to USB-A cable. An LED indicator below the red LED will go red to show charing in progress and turn green once charging is complete. The indicator also shows remaining battery power so you know when the battery needs charging.

Great throw and spill

Great service from TorchDirect with helpful support over the phone. I opted for the warm version as I find it easier on the eye. The torch is robust and has a great non slip finish. It sits well in the hand and is easier to operate be it in basic or advance modes. For purists it’s not a perfect beam on a white wall but this doesn’t show up in ‘normal’ use and is far outweighed by the excellent balance of throw and spill making it great for walking or indoor use. The torch can tailstand (great for power cuts) and has a strong magnet to attach to anything magnetic.

Bought this torch for it’s runtime spec and that you can replace the battery or carry a spare with you if needed. For my needs this is the perfect head torch, operation is simple, the various light levels are ample i think for most people and it is comfortable to wear with the wide headband. My only mistake ordering this torch was i didn’t realise the difference between usb-c and usb-c micro which was what i had so i needed to order the usb-c charger and a usb-c to usb-a lead for home use. The torch is great snd you shouldn’t be disappointed if you purchase one.

My second (but smaller & lighter) Led Lenser head torch but just as sturdy and well made. The filters are an added bonus - particularly the green one for picking out animal eyes when dog walking in the fields. Usual superb service from Torch Direct - thank you Stewart. Excellent Purchase

This is a great torch, a bit expensive but I think it’s worth the money.
The knurling in the handle makes it easy to hold, the default light is very bright, I’ve only used it on the General setting but even on low power (2 clicks) it was well bright enough for me to use following the dog around in a large garden at night.
I would thoroughly recommend this torch, I had an older model in which the batteries leaked and ruined and in some ways I’m glad as it gave me an excuse to buy the ML300LX

Olight Perun 2 Spare battery's

The spares appear and perform just like the original battery. Battery life seems good .. lasted about a month of evening dog walking 5 -7 hrs seems in line with spec. Prompt delivery after notfication that they were back in stock. I also feel reasonable price given its a slightly exotic size.
