Fenix PD35 V3.0 LED Torch

The PD35 V3.0 is the fourth generation upgrade of the PD35 that has retained its popularity throughout the 8 years since the original release.

This latest upgrade is the biggest leap yet with a higher output of 1700 lumens from the updated Luminus SFT40 LED and the inclusion of a USB rechargeable Fenix ARB-L18-2600U 18650 lithium-ion battery. As well as the new LED it is also fitted with a small calibre metallic smooth surface reflector which provides around an increase in beam distance to provide 357 metres beam range.

The PD35 V3.0 offers five brightness levels and strobe, that are operated using the tactical tail button and the side mode button. The light is turned on and off by fulling clicking the tail switch or momentary illumination can be achieved by half pressing the tail button while the light is off. With the light turned on single presses of the side switch will cycle through eco, low, mid, high and turbo.

The last used brightness level will be memorised for when the light is next turned on. Holding the side button for 0.5 seconds with the light on will access the strobe setting and one press of the button will revert back to the previous brightness level.

A battery level indicator will automatically display the battery status for 3 seconds each time the torch is turned on if you are using a 18650 lithium-ion battery. Constant green indicates a full charge, green flashes is sufficient charge, red constant is poor battery level and red flashes indicates critical battery level and that the battery should be charged as soon as possible.

When using an 18650 battery, if the battery voltage drops below 3 V, the PD35 V3.0 is designed to downshift in brightness level until the eco output is reached. When eco is reached the battery level indicator will blink red once every 3 seconds to remind you to charge or replace the battery. The torch will continue to work until the over discharge protection kicks in to prevent the battery becoming overly depleted.

It is powered by one 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery and included is the Fenix ARB-L18-2600U USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can be charged via the micro USB port that is built into the battery itself using the included micro USB cable. It is also compatible with the other Fenix ARB-L18 battery series and two CR123A non-rechargeable lithium metal batteries can also be used in the torch in an emergency situation.

The intelligent over-heat protection will drop the turbo brightness level if the internal temperature reaches 60°C or above once the temperature has reduced the user can reselect full brightness. This is to protect the LED from damage and prevent the surface temperature from becoming too high.

Note: *The high mode is measured at total run-time including any reduced output levels due to the temperature regulation design.

Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix 2600 mAh 18650 lithium-ion USB rechargeable battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
