The Fenix HP35R SAR is a rechargeable head torch designed for professional rescue, industrial and caving use and delivers a maximum output of 4000 lumens when the separate flood light and spot light is combined.
The HP35R SAR features a fire resistant rubber strap mount and 4 x helmet clips which allows the head torch to be securely friction mounted on helmets and hard hats.
The two side Luminus SST-20 LEDs provide warm white pure flood beam lighting capable of 1200 lumens, and the central neutral white XHP-70 LED provides a spotlight that can reach up to 440 metres with a maximum output of 3000 lumens. The spot and flood lighting can be used individually or combined.
The rotary switch controls all modes while the central push button controls the brightness levels, making modes easy to change in an instant. To turn the HP35R SAR on, turn the rotary switch clockwise to cycle through the spotlight, floodlight and combined outputs. Turn the switch back anticlockwise to the power symbol to turn the light off. While in the desired output single press the central push button to cycle through the low, medium, high and turbo outputs.
The battery pack is not head mountable and must use the included extension cable, which keeps head mounted weight to a minimum and protects your batteries at low temperatures. The battery pack also features a red light for safety, simple press and hold the switch o the battery pack to turn the red light on or off and single press the button to switch between the red flashing and red constant outputs.
The included built-in rechargeable 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery is charged inside the battery back via the USB-C port. Lift the dust cover and insert the USB-C cable, then connect the other end to a USB-A power source. The four charging indicators on the battery pack will start to flash in turn and gradually illuminate until all four are solid to show charging is complete after approximately 2 hours full charge time with no use of the head torch. The cable can then be removed and the dust cover replaced to maintain the IPX6 dust and waterproof rating.
As well as powering the lamp, the battery pack can also be used as a power bank to allow for charging of an external USB devices using the USB-A (next to the USB-C). Simply plug the USB-A end of the cable into the port, connect the other end to your device, then single press the button next to the charging indicators to begin the discharging process. The indicators will decrease to show that the batteries are being discharged.
The four LED indicators also light up when the button is pressed while the light is off. Four LEDs is 80-100% power, three LEDs is 60-80% power, two LEDs is 40-60% power, one LED is 20-40% and one flashing LED is less than 20% power and the torch should be charged as soon as possible when at this stage.
The intelligent brightness downshifting function will automatically downshift the output when the head torch is close (60 mm) to an object for more than one second and return to the previous output when moved away for more than 1.2 seconds. To turn this function off, press and hold the button in the rotary switch for six seconds until the head torch flashes twice. To turn the function on, press and hold the switch for sic seconds and the head torch will flash eight times.
If the battery voltage drops below the preset level, the torch is designed to downshift in brightness level until the low output is reached. The overheat protection will automatically reduce the turbo lumen output if the temperature of the torch reaches 60°C or above in order to protect the LED from overheating. Once the temperature has dropped below 60°C the turbo can be reselected again.
