Fenix HM50R V2.0 Rechargeable LED Head Torch

The Fenix HM50R V2.0 is an updated rechargeable head torch that offers a maximum output of 700 lumens from a Cree XP-G3 S4 LED.

As well as use on the head, it can also detach from the head band holder and be used hand held also for extra versatility and convenience.

The torch is powered by one 16340 lithium-ion rechargeable battery and included is the Fenix ARB-L16-700P lithium-ion battery, but it is also compatible with the other Fenix 16340 battery versions. It can also use a CR123A non rechargeable lithium metal battery as a back-up.

Recharging the HM50R V2.0 is easy with the included USB cable, just simply pop open the rubber dust cover on the side of the torch and insert the USB-C end of the cable, then plug the USB-A end straight into a USB power source. The indicator will glow red to show charging is in progress and go green once charging is complete after approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes.

The HM50R V2.0 features four white brightness levels and two red outputs that are accessed using a single switch on the side of the head torch. Hold the button for 0.5 to turn the light on in white mode and single presses of the side button will cycle through low, mid, high and turbo. To access the red mode double press the button from off and then each press will cycle between red and red flash.

Hold the button for 0.5 seconds in either mode to turn the light off. The last used brightness setting will be memorised and the torch will turn on in that setting the next time round.

The headband is comfortable and adjustable, has a silicone strip on the inside that channels sweat and rain away from the eyes and the new weaved design is hollow to not only reduce the weight by 30% but also provide more breathability and comfort. On the outer part of the headband there are reflective strips, which are excellent for enhanced visibility.

A single press of the button while off will activate the battery indicator LEDs and display the power level for 3 seconds. A solid green light indicates saturated, flashing green is sufficient, solid red is poor and flashing red is critical. The battery indicator also acts as a low voltage warning light while the torch is in use when using the included battery.

To prevent accidental activation the HM50R V2.0 has a lockout function. This can be accessed with the light turned off by holding down the button for 3 seconds until the white light comes on then the red light blinks four times. Unlock the light in the same way and it will turn back on in the red light.

Note: *The turbo and high mode is measured at total run-time including any reduced output levels due to the temperature regulation design.

Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix 5000 mAh 21700 lithium-ion rechargeable battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
