The PM450R is one of the torches in Coast's new range of work lights and provide a high output of 550 lumens from a single white LED.

Dual power options means that the light can use the included Coast Zithium-X rechargeable battery, or it can also use 3 x AAA alkaline batteries (not included). The Zithion-X battery features a micro USB port built into the battery so that it can be charged outside of the torch using the included micro USB to USB-A charging cable. While charging is in progress an LED indicator glows red and turns green once charging is complete.

What sets this apart from other work lights is that it has the ability to focus the beam using Coast's Pure Beam Focusing Optic System to focus between the bulls-eye spot beam with a range of up to 165 metres, and the ultra view flood beam that gives a consistent circle of light with no dark circles in the middle. Changing between spot to flood is achieved by twisting the bezel of the light back and forth.

For versatility the lamp can be attached to magnetic surfaces with the strong magnet that is built into the base of the worklight, or hung from the hanging hook that is tucked away underneath, and the position of the lamp head itself can be rotated 180° to achieve the best light coverage.

The light is operated using the power button located on the side and each press will cycle through mid, high and low, but after being in a mode longer than 5 seconds the next press will instead turn the light off. Mid output will always be accessed first to give a good initial output that is not too bright or too low.

The PM450R is dust and water resistant to IP54 standards, making it perfect for a variety of outdoor activities.

Lights the room up

I was looking for a simple emergency house light. This so fits the bill. On a dark winters morning at 6.45am I switched it on in the kitchen, with the rotating light pointing to the ceiling. Quite simply it allowed me to cook breakfast with full vision. It is rechargeable but it also uses smaller batteries instead,the best of both worlds. I am also partially sighted and find low light levels a problem,so now I also use it as a spot table lamp. Will buy another soon.

A superb carry torch, bigger than my Fenix PD35, but still small enough to drop into a pocket.
Very bright, illuminating most of a field at night, the rotary switch is fast and easy to operate.
Particularly liked the free gift; a plasma phase lighter. Have played with this for hours, experimenting with magnetic interference, using it in different gases, etc. Much safer than a gas lighter.

I had an issue with a dive torch I bought a couple of years ago.

The customer care team asked me a couple simple questions then without quibbling advised it sounded faulty so the best thing to do would be to send it back and provided a pre-paid return label. Upon examination the team found the torch to be faulty. The torch was no longer the current version and was out of stock so they replaced it with the updated version for me!

This torch is all I hoped. Small, bright & takes just one aaa battery. The LED bulb should last just about forever. It lives in my pocket. Where I live we get frequent power cuts, this is invaluable. Expensive, but well worth it.

Maglite Spectrum Series Red Solitaire AAA LED Torch ( RED , LED ) …fantastic , I had the old version for 35 years and it still works “bulb type” + additional spare original bulb in the cap …. The only thing with the old Version it was with a clear lens so I made one out of some red plastic which did the job…..! The new one is far superior which I would expect after 35 years later , no modifications needed …😂 …. Need to test the new one more maybe write another review later …..! But in general, all is good. 😉👍🏻

I haven’t had the chance to test this torch yet but I am very impressed with how it feels in the hand. A very nice weight and you can tell it’s made well.
I am extremely impressed with the level of customer service I have received from the team at Torch Direct. I accidentally entered my old address when purchasing as my Apple Pay hadn’t yet been changed. The team were more than happy to change it for me and replied to my email asking them to extremely quickly. Royal Mail then delivered my parcel to the wrong address and the team did everything they could to help me find it even though they had put the correct address.
