Coast EAL17 LED Lantern

The Coast EAL17 lantern has been updated and now offers a maximum output of 580 lumens of diffused white light (increase of 120 lumens) on the highest output.

As well as low & high white outputs, it also has red light output with two modes of constant on or flashing, which is useful for low light settings or to attract attention in an emergency with the flashing function. The circular push button on the front of the lantern controls all outputs and with each press will cycle through low, high, red, red flashing and off.

It is powered by four D cell batteries and provides an incredible brightness and energy efficiency, with up to 31 hours of run time in the low 300 lumen setting from a single set of alkaline batteries. The dual power function means it can also use rechargeable D cell NiMH batteries, although run-times will differ with this battery type.

A handle rests down the side of the lantern which can be pulled out for easy carrying and there is also a hanging hook attached to the handle so that it can be hung, in a tent for example, to provide area lighting.

Sturdy, Dependable, Long Life.

I ended up buying three to replace my trusty 12 year old standby lamps that had seen better days, and their time had come to go to the lamp graveyard in the sky.
The rated life of these Coast Lamps of 30hrs on the lower (but still bright) setting, on one set of four D Type rechargeable batteries, is virtually double the life of my old ones for the same type of batteries. They are also much brighter than my old ones; the march of technology :)
Tested one out first for brightness and longevity, liked it, and bought two more. I now have these three as my main go-to standby lights together with two combined solar/hand crank ones of another make.
Pleasantly surprised at the speed of dispatch, they arrived (very) quickly, soundly packed. Nice lamps, long life ..... I'm good to go :)

Not used in earnest yet

I have not used the lantern in earnest yet but it seems to be ok and will be useful for using in the event of a power cut for which it was bought. Delivery and packaging was fine. I would have preferred something that was not "made in China" but the whole of the businesss world has imposed this upon us and it is no longer possible to look elsewhere for homegrown products.

Purchased as back up in event of power cuts. Not used much yet. Solidly built. Battery loading was easy (4 D cells). Extremely bright - standard setting bright enough to read by. Service from Torch Direct was excellent, as always. Recommended.

When you need the best ... choose Maglite every time!

The ML300L 2D torch feels solid and dependable and is a really good weight. The modes on it are useful. I keep it on #2 so that I have access to strobe for emergencies. I bought it for preflighting my aircraft for night flying and the spot to focus beam is ideal. I own several other maglites (including the ML300L 3D for my house) which have proven very dependable in many situations, I wouldn't choose another brand to be honest. I've also bought all my torches from Torch Direct, their customer service is excellent.

Great bit of kit

Firstly I didn't buy this, I received it as a free gift with my order and as someone who doesn't normally use a lighter I put it in the tin of candles in the kitchen and forgot about it. Tonight, November the fifth, time to have my yearly fire and used the plasma lighter, it is amazing, anything flammable the "spark" touches is instantly on fire, really impressive bit of kit, good build quality and no lighter fuel to buy. I would have been really happy with this if I'd paid for it myself, but even better free. Thank you Torch Direct.

Mini Maglite 2-Cell AA LED Torch
AN EXCELLENT TORCH

1. This is an excellent torch and has a much brighter light than the Mini-Maglite had years ago when ordinary bulbs were used. It is ideal for carrying in the pocket, briefcase, ladies handbag or anywhere else where a small lightweight handy torch would be used.
2. There are a number of accessories available, depending on its intended use, but one I would advise is a press-switch end-cap. The torch can then be operated with one hand instead of having to use two to switch it on and off. These can also be obtained with a lanyard attached.
3. Unfortunately I have yet to find a suitable belt-holder for this torch. Most of them are open-ended, elasticated and not easy to use. Something like a pen case with a flap at the top would be suitable.
4. Although these torches may seem a little expensive, they are well worth it, as they can last for years.

Brilliant

A superb carry torch, bigger than my Fenix PD35, but still small enough to drop into a pocket.
Very bright, illuminating most of a field at night, the rotary switch is fast and easy to operate.
Particularly liked the free gift; a plasma phase lighter. Have played with this for hours, experimenting with magnetic interference, using it in different gases, etc. Much safer than a gas lighter.

I had an issue with a dive torch I bought a couple of years ago.

The customer care team asked me a couple simple questions then without quibbling advised it sounded faulty so the best thing to do would be to send it back and provided a pre-paid return label. Upon examination the team found the torch to be faulty. The torch was no longer the current version and was out of stock so they replaced it with the updated version for me!

I was so pleasantly surprised by how kind and understanding the customer care team are. I would definitely buy from them again and will be recommending to friends and family.
