Xtar D30 1600 LED Diving Torch Kit (White/Red/Blue/UV)

The Xtar D30 1600 is a versatile dive torch that provides an excellent white output, as well as a secondary red, blue and UV output from the multicoloured LEDs.

Three brightness levels are available from the main white Cree XHP35-HI D4 LED and offers a 1600 lumen output on maximum setting. There are also 6 x Cree XP-E2 LEDs, made up of two red, two blue and two UV which can be used independently or individually combined with the white light to better highlight marine life or coral reefs depending on the subject, as different combinations can better illuminate details or colours.

Colour rendering index (CRI) is a measurement of a light sources ability to faithfully reveal the true colour of an object in comparison to a natural light source such as sunlight and is measured between 0-100. The D30 1600 main white LED has a high CRI 95+ value, which means the quality of the light source is extremely good and shows colours in their true form and also helps reduce eye strain that lower CRI lights can cause.

A combination of high CRI and coloured LEDs is beneficial for diving as it allows you to see the true colours of the nature around you, and assists in underwater photography. It can work to a depth of 100 metres and uses a 130° wide angle beam with a range of 40 metres, enabling you to see clearly around you and enhance your peripheral vision to aid in photography but also keep you safe.

The single magnetic switch controls the all outputs when in the unlocked position. One press turns the light on in high white mode and each press thereafter cycles through the brightness settings of high, mid, low and off. To use the coloured lights independently, double press the button while the torch is off and it will come on in red, and each press will then cycle through red, blue, UV and off. A single coloured light can also be combined with the white light by first turning the torch on in the white light mode, and then long pressing the button for over 1 second to turn on the red light alongside the white. Repeat this to cycle to the through the white and colour combinations and a single press will exit the combined mode and go back to just the white setting.

To prevent accidental activation when not in use, or to ensure the mode is not changed while it is in use, the switch can be placed in the lockout position by twisting the switch 90° to the left to face the locked padlock symbol. To exit the lockout simply twist the button 90° to the right so it is facing upwards towards the unlocked padlock symbol.

It is powered by one 26650 lithium-ion battery (included) which can be easily recharged in the provided external MC1 battery charger. A rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion battery can also be used with the torch, however the included battery sleeve must be inserted in the torch first of all. An LED power indicator just above the power switch lets you know when your battery is running low. Above 35% power the light will be green, between 10%-35% the light will go red and below 10% the red light will flash to remind you to charge the battery as soon as possible to prevent battery damage from low voltage.
